Leroy L. Frizzell

Leroy Lucious Frizzell, 78, peacefully slipped into the arms of His beloved Jesus early in the morning on Sunday, November 4, 2012; his wife, Jeannine of 54 years was resting close by his side as she had been for all of their married days; his daughter and son were not far away. Leroy was born the second son and third child of Leon Lucious and Carrie Ruth (Aldridge) Frizzell in Wetumpka, AL, on July 22, 1934, and grew up on farms in East Central Alabama around Opelika, Auburn, Tuskegee, Tallassee and Notasulga. After moving to Atlanta, Leroy married Jeannine Redding on November 7, 1958, and they had one daughter, Cindy, and one son, Terry. Leroy lived most of his adult life in Stockbridge, GA, with the last 41 years being in the same home. Leroy worked as a cab driver in Auburn, AL, then a bread truck driver in Atlanta, finally becoming a machinist at Montag/Mead Paper Products retiring after 38 years, serving the last years as the head plant electrician. Leroy also owned and operated B & F Upholstery with Virgil Bohannon for several years. Leroy loved electronics and was the go-to-person for family and friends when they needed repairs. He was also an Amateur Radio Operator. First and foremost Leroy loved his family and friends, making even strangers friends with his humor. As his family grew, Leroy easily embraced his new family members. Tim Barnes, the man who became his daughter Cindy's husband, was loved and treated as his own son. The two children that Tim and Cindy brought into Leroy's heart were his joy. Becky and Bradley filled "PaPa's" days and heart with laughter and memories; they cherished the time spent with him shopping, eating fast food, attending events and just being together. They were so knit together that when Becky and Bradley departed this life a big piece of Leroy's soul went with them. When Terry, Leroy's son, married Karen, she was equally loved and all the more so when Katie, Carrie, Callie and Bradie came along finding a place in his heart alongside Becky and Brad. Though Terry's family lived miles away, Leroy fashioned fond memories with them as well. After Leroy became a faithful disciple to the Lord Jesus Christ, he dedicated his life to serving God together with Jeannine and his church family at Lovejoy Family Church, a Church of the Nazarene. Though in his mid-forties, Leroy served God with the vigor and stamina of a younger man. He wired the new church building, mowed the 17 acres up until September, cleaned the church, sang in the choir and faithfully visited and supported the hospitalized and home-bound, but nothing equaled the spirit of joy in the Lord and humor that he brought to all who crossed his path. He was and will continue to be a blessing to all who were blessed with the spirit of his soul, including the young children he "grandparented," with Jeannine, at the annual Royal Family Kids' Camp. When Leroy died on Sunday morning, November 4, 2012, he was welcomed into eternity by Jesus, his most loved granddaughter and grandson, Becky Barnes and Bradlee Barnes; his parents, Leon & Carrie Frizzell; his brother, Jerry Frizzell and his sister, Nell Brock. He left these, among many others, as those who will carry on his memory, joy and love: Jeannine, his forever wife; Cindy & Tim Barnes, his daughter and son-in-law, of Palmetto; Terry & Karen Frizzell, his son & daughter-in-law and Leroy's four granddaughters, Katie, Carrie, Callie & Bradie , all of Topeka, KS; the family who fashioned him into who He was: his brothers - Floyd (Nell Rose) Frizzell of Dallas, GA; Charles (Rosie) Frizzell of Stockbridge, GA; his sisters - Ruth (William) Liles of Stockbridge, GA; Peggy Carroll of Ozark, AL; Kaye Henry of Mobile, AL and Sharon (Leland) Herbert of Fayetteville, GA; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, 2047 GA Hwy 138, Jonesboro, GA, Thursday, November 8th, 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the Lovejoy Family Church, 1683 McDonough Rd, Hampton, GA, Friday, November 9th, 11 a.m. with internment following at Forest Hills Cemetery, 722 Conley Road, Forest Park, GA. With Leroy's special dedication to the children of Royal Family Kids' Camp, the family encourages people to make a lasting memorial donation in Leroy's name to the Royal Family Kids' Camp, P.O.
