Walter L. Petersen

Mr. Walter L. Petersen, age 87, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away, Friday, March 5, 2010. Walter was born in Libertyville, IL. , seventh of eight brothers and one sister. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired from Abbott Labs with 40 years of service in Illinois, Florida and Georgia. After retirement he moved to Kissimmee, FL and became an active member of the Kissimmee Elks Lodge #1873 as well as Saint Cloud Masonic Lodge #221 and the Bahia Shriners Orlando. Mr. and Mrs. Petersen returned to Georgia in 1997, to be close to family. Walter is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ellen M. Petersen and his son, Bruce Randall Petersen. He is survived by his daughter; Joan Petersen of Jonesboro, GA, daughter and son-in-law; Bonnie and Richard M. Miller of Jonesboro, GA, grandchildren; Bruce R. Petersen, Tonia D. Petersen, great-granddaughter; Randi Petersen, all of Tyler, TX. He is also survived by one brother; Robert Petersen of Libertyville, IL, and many nieces and nephews. No services are planned at this time.
